　こんにちは、ミスターです。

 Hello, this is MALT.

　一緒に宇宙塵の研究を行っている高校生の2人が来ました。

　ちょうど原子力国際専攻の入試説明会の日だったので、研究室紹介をしておきました。

　まだ早かったかな。

 Two high school students who study the cosmic dust together visited MALT.

 As the orientation of Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management was held just on that day, I introduced Matsuzaki laboratory.

いつもと違う感じの写真が撮れて満足です。

　原国際へのご入学と松崎研究室への配属をお待ちしております。

 We are looking forward to seeing you at the entrance ceremony.

高橋研と合同BBQ BBQ with Takahashi Laboratory

　こんにちは、ミスターです。

 Hello, this is MALT.

　MALTにて、高橋研と合同バーベキューが行われました。

　毎年、暑気払いとして7月くらいに開催していましたが、この時期に行うのも気温がちょうどよく非常に気持ちいい会になりました。

 BBQ party with Takahashi laboratory members was held in MALT.

 We usually hold BBQ party in July to cheer up those who suffer from hot weather, but this season is cool and pleasant.

BGM付き。

With lively BGM.

毎年薄切り肉を焼いていましたが、今回は本場感が満載。

Not slice meats but thic steak. This is BBQ.

宴は遅くまで続けられました。満腹満足。

I'm full and satisfied.

PACとMALTユーザーガイダンス PAC & User Guidance 2014

　こんにちは、ミスターです。

 Hello, this is MALT.

　PACとユーザーガイダンスが行われました。

　中々会議室を確保できなくてわかりにくい場所になってしまいすみません。

 PAC (Project Assessment Committee?) and the MALT user guidance was held.

 I'm sorry that the place where they were carried on was hard to find.


　永井先生の代理でPACに出席していた山形さんを廊下から盗撮してみました。

 I tried to take a picture of Yamagata-san from the outside of the room secretly.

気づかれた。

He found out.

　ユーザーガイダンスには多くの方に参加していただきました。

　小さめのセミナー室でしたのでいっぱいになってしまい、これまたすみません。

 Many people took part in the guidance.

 As it was held in a small seminar room, it was full of participants. I'm sorry again.

　年代測定室の尾嵜さんに放射性炭素年代測定に関する特別講義をしていただきました。

 We asked Ozaki-san to give the special lecture about radiocarbon dating.

　今年度もがんばりましょう。
　みなさんが良いデータを得られんことを！

 Let's do our best this year too.
 May you obtain the good data!

年代測定室ワークショップ Radiocarbon Dating Workshop

　こんにちは、ミスターです。

 Hello, this is MALT.

　先週の木曜日、東大博物館放射性炭素年代測定室が主催するワークショップが行われ、参加した方々がMALTに施設見学にいらっしゃいました。

 A workshop was held by Laboratory of Radiocarbon Dating, the University Museum, the University of Tokyo.
 Then, the participants visited MALT.

 おなじみ制御室。

The control room.

おなじみ加速器タンク（修理済み）。

The accelerator tank (repaired).

　このワークショップは幅広い研究分野の方々が参加されていたようです。

 Each of workshop participants is working in various research fields.

　これに倣って、MALTでも質量分析ワークショップをやって新規ユーザーを獲得できれば良いかもしれませんね。

 Along Laboratory of Radiocarbon Dating, it may be good idea that MALT also holds a workshop on AMS to increase new users.

タンクの修理完了しました Accelerator Tank Repairing Completed

　こんにちは、ミスターです。

 Hello, this is MALT.

　先日発覚したEL02-2の故障も何とか修理完了しました。

 We somehow completed repairing of EL02-2.

　MALTが誇る加速器のエキスパートです。

They are experts in accelerator of MALT.

　いよいよ本格的にマシンタイムが開始します。遅くなってしまい申し訳ないです。

 The machine time started in earnest.
 I am terribly sorry for the delay in beginning of the operation.

基礎プロ✕伊藤さん Supervisor of Basic Project

　こんにちは、ミスターです。

 Hello, this is MALT.

　基礎プロジェクトの監督総指揮者、伊藤さんです。

　サンプリングの際には三四郎池周辺を縦横無尽に駆けまわっています。

 Ito-san is a supervisor of basic project.

 During the sampling, he is running far and wide around Sanshiro-ike pond.

　

この躍動感よ。

Filled with a lot of lively movement.

　池をさらっている学生たちに興味を持って話しかけてこられる方々の対応も伊藤さんが行っています。

 He told to external people who took a interest in students removing muds from the bottom of the pond.
 This is like a scene from a movie.


　今回のサンプリングも誰も池に落ちないまま無事に終わりました。

 This sampling had also ended smoothly without falling to the pond.

腹が減っては We need fuel

　こんにちは、ミスターです。

 Hello, this is MALT.

　航海の準備やICP-MSとの格闘の末、いつもよりやや真剣な表情が集まる主任室です。

 A meeting was held with the rather serious atmosphere than usual as results of a preparation of the voyage and a struggle with ICP-MS.

しかし、どんなに真剣な表情であってもお菓子は手放さない。

　楠野さんが今日からおよそ３週間の航海サンプリングに入ります。お気をつけて！

 Kusuno-san will set sail for a sampling for three weeks from tomorrow.

本多さんがやってきました！

　こんにちは、ミスターです。

 Hello, this is MALT.

　今年度からつくばに行っている本多さんが打ち合わせにきました。

 Honda-san visited MALT to have a meeting.

 She was living in MALT until last March.

　

　Be10、Al26の加速器質量分析について私が書いた原稿が届いたところだったので、さっそく一部プレゼントしました。

　喜んでいただけて何よりです。

 I gave her a introductory article written about accelerator mass spectrometry for Be-10 and Al-26. It made her happy.

 I have not labored on writing in vain.

　お昼には一緒に根津駅近くのお店を開拓しました。なかなか雰囲気のいい店。

　本多さんが頼んだ大アジ定食のアジが、その名に恥じぬ見事な大きさでした。

 We went to a restaurant near Nedu station for lunch.

 Honda-san ordered a "Big mackerel lunch", and the name is the honest truth.

原子力国際専攻入試説明会 Orientation of Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management

　こんにちは、ミスターです。

 Hello, this is MALT.

　原子力国際専攻の入試説明会が行われたのでMALTをしっかりと紹介してきました。

 Orientation for new students of Nuclear Engineering and Management was held, and I introduced our laboratory MALT in detail.

準備万端で学部生を迎えうつミスターと三宅くん

We are all set to receive the students.

　一緒にスキーに行ったスナディも説明する側として参加していました。

　新しい仲間が増えると良いね！

 Sunada-kun, who went to ski together, also participated as a introducer.

 I hope that someone will join our group.


　次回の入試説明会は5月31日（土）の14時から、工学部3号館32号講義室で行われます。

　ご来場お待ちしています。


 Next orientation will be held from 14 o'clock on May 31 at 32nd room of Faculty of Engineering Bldg.3.

サンプリングは安全第一 Safety First also in Sampling

　こんにちは、ミスターです！

 Hello, this is MALT.

　連休前に行った基礎プロジェクトのサンプリング。

　今回のグループはどういうわけか難しい場所ばかりでサンプリングをしていました。

　その方が他のグループと試料が被らないので、分析するのは面白いですが・・・。

 In the last fieldwork for basic project, they collected the mud sample only at the steep site for some reason.

 Interesting result can be expected due to their novelty.

2014MALTセミナー MALT seminar 2014

　こんにちは、ミスターです！

 Hello, this is MALT.

　今年も毎週MALTセミナーを開催しています。

　MALTの研究員が集まってそれぞれの研究方針や研究成果について報告しあい、他の人から意見やアドバイスをもらいます。

 The MALT seminar was held every week.

 At the seminar, MALT research workers present their research policy or result and ask colleagues for advice and feedback.

喧々諤々。

Keep the pot boiling.

カラスに注意 Beware of Crows!

　こんにちは、ミスターです。

　Hello, this is MALT.


　自然豊かな東京大学には多数のカラスの巣があります。

　子育て中のカラスに近づいてしまい、後頭部を蹴られるという被害が発生しています。


 University of Tokyo is nature-rich, consequently has many crow's nests.
 Getting close crows caring for their babies may cause a hard kick for the back of your head.



　そこで、今年も東京大学カラスハザードマップが配布されました。

 Crow attack hazard map was distributed this year too.

　

MALTの付近も要注意地点です。

There is a danger zone near MALT.

　帽子をかぶったり、傘を差したりすることが身を守るためには有効らしいです。

　紫外線からも身を守れて一石二鳥？

　MALTにおいでの際はお気をつけ下さい。

 I hear that wearing a hat and putting up a parasol are effective for taking cover from crow's attack.

 By the way, they are also effective for protect your skin from ultraviolet rays. 

 I feel somehow lucky.

地球惑星科学連合大会 Japan Geoscience Union Meeting 2014

　こんにちは、ミスターです。

 Hello, this is MALT.

　日本地球惑星科学連合の連合大会に出席するために、横浜みなとみらいに行ってきました。

 To attend a meeting of Japan Geoscience Union Meeting 2014, I went to Yokohama-Minatomirai.

　会場はパシフィコ横浜です。今回が初来場でした。会場内は撮影禁止。

 The meeting place was Pacifico Yokohama.
 It was prohibited to take photos in the site.

きれいな青空。絶好の連合大会日和です。横浜の海岸線はとてもきれいでした。

 Clear sky! It was good day for Union Meeting.
 Yokohama bayside had an aura of romance.

ボス不在 Boss Absent

　こんにちは、ミスターです。

　本物のミスターが海外出張中のため、基礎プロジェクトの講義を伊藤さんと土屋さんが行っていました。

 As Prof.Matsuzaki is on business trip oversea, Mr.Ito and Ms.Tsuchiya gave a lecture for the basic project.

　前説を行う伊藤先生。学生と一緒にいるときは何だか楽しそうです。

  Ito-sensei giving a introduction of the lecture.

 He seems happy when he is with students.

　サンプリングの注意事項を説明する土屋先生。

 Tsuchiya-sensei explaining important points of sampling.

　松崎先生と楠野さんの土産話に期待しています。

 I'm looking forward to hearing the stories about their trip.

華は無いけど花はある！ Scenery in University of Tokyo in May

　こんにちは、ミスターです。

 Hello, this is MALT.


　今週も基礎プロジェクトで三四郎池に行ってきました。

　MALTのある浅野キャンパスは本郷地区の離れにあるので、中央にある池に行くまではちょっとした散歩気分です。

　心配していた雨も上がり、すっかりサンプリング日和です。

 I went to the pond Sanshiro-ike pond for basic project this week too.

 MALT is a little way from Sanshiro-ike pond, so the distance is a good walk.

 It had stopped raining. Today's weather is a good day for a sampling. 

　新しくなった工学部3号館前はつつじが満開でした。

　連休明けまでMALTの近くの根津神社でつつじ祭りをやっています。なかなか迫力があるのでおすすめです。

 Azaleas are in full bloom now.

 In Nedu shrine near MALT, azaleas festival has been held until the end of the consecutive holiday.

　あまりの陽気に池のカモが寝入っていました。うらやましいことです。

　A sleeping duck was floating. I envy you!

　東大といえば銀杏並木が有名ですが、この季節も爽やかで心地よいです。何より銀杏みたいに臭くないのが良い。

　お散歩ブームに乗っかって谷根千の人気が急上昇中ですが、ついでに東大にも寄ると良いかもしれませんね。

 Ginkgo tree lines in University of Tokyo are well known, but this season is also good due to its pleasant weather.

 I suggest you visit University of Tokyo on your way to visit Yanesen (Yanaka, Nedu, Sendagi area).
