2024年の松崎研究室 How was 2024

 こんにちは！

Hello, this is MALT.

2024年の後半はMALTに人がたくさん集まり、イベント盛りだくさんでした。

イベントの紹介はひとまず置いておいて、人を迎える準備のようすをお届け。

We had many encounters in 2024.

こちらの記事で主任室も片付けて、一人分の席を用意しましたが、それだけでは到底入り切りませんでした。

We had set up a temporary desk in Prof Matsuzaki's room, but it was still not enough.

そこで2階の研究室も急遽模様替え。

Therefore, we had to rearrange the room on the second floor as well.

大きな机を全部運び出し・・・

1. Remove everything from the room except for him.

新たに小さめの机を導入

2. Bring as many desks into the room as needed.

なんとか全員分の席を用意することができました。

This is an illusion!

We had managed to prepare the seats, but the meeting room was overcrowded.

本郷キャンパス訪問＆防災訓練 Visit Hongo campus and disaster drill

こんにちは！

Hello, this is MALT.

本日は久しぶりに本郷キャンパスの様子を見に行きました。

Today, we visited Hongo campus with Lan-san from Vietnam and Nidhiya-san from India.

普段浅野キャンパスにいるMALTメンバーにはあまり縁がないところでランチ。

We had lunch in the university cafeteria, which was renovated in April.

あいにくの空模様でしたが、雨が上がって霧が出はじめ、少し幻想的な雰囲気になりました。

There were many foreigners in the cafeteria and, surprisingly, one of them was from IISc, just like Nidhiya-san.

ちょうど東大の防災訓練の日で、かなり大規模な避難訓練をしている集団もいました。

Today, disaster drill was conducted at the University of Tokyo, and there were several groups conducting evacuation drills.

At first glance, it looks like a factory tour.

もちろん、MALTでも避難訓練を実施しました。

Of course, evacuation drills were also conducted at MALT.

MALTで地震が発生した場合、まず身の安全を確保し、その後タンデム棟玄関前に避難してください。（2次避難所は武田ビル前）

If a major earthquake occurs, first ensure your personal safety.

主任室のお片付け Clean Up Room

こんにちは！

Hello, this is MALT.

松崎研の学生は現在4名、さらにMALTのスタッフも増えてきていて、スペースの確保に難儀しています。

The inhabitants of MALT village are growing and the population density is increasing.

今回、インドから研究生の方がいらっしゃることになり、MALT主任室（松崎居室）に臨時のデスクを設けることになりました。

In June, We had a research student from India, and we decided to set up a temporary desk in Prof Matsuzaki's room.

元々は集まってお弁当食べたり、簡単な打ち合わせをしたりしていたスペースです。

棟内の配置換えをしたとき、かつて倉庫にあったものが何故かここに仮置きされてそのままになっていました。

This place had been valued as a place for MALT residents to discard items they no longer need.

何がどこにあるかは完全に把握している。

I found a 10 year old ramen magazine and immediately threw it away.

サンプルを別の場所に移したり、不要になった書類を捨てたりしています。

It was a good opportunity to clean up.

松崎研の生活 Student Life of Matsuzaki Laboratory

そろそろ大学院入試があるので、ちょっと松崎研究室の宣伝をかねて、今年度前期の学生のようすを紹介してみます。

Here is an introduction to student life in the Matsuzaki Laboratory.

松崎研究室では、大学院生（修士・博士）を募集しています。受け入れ専攻は、工学系研究科原子力国際専攻です。

MALTのタンデム加速器を用いたあらゆる研究をすることができます。

The students in Matsuzaki laboratory are conducting various research using MALT tandem accelerators (5MV pelletron).

We often offers facility tours for visitors.

Guiding visitors helps to deepen both student guides and visitor's understanding of the accelerators.

先月、和光市の理研を訪問し、サイクロトロンやタンデム加速器を見学させてもらいました。

We visited RIKEN in Wako city to see the cyclotron and tandem accelerator.

また、先日は青森県の弘前大でゼミ合宿を行いました。

2023年の思い出 来客編 Visitors to MALT.

こんにちは！

Hello, this is MALT.

2023年の思い出　第3弾はMALTの見学者、来訪者の皆様について。

Memories of 2023 part 3 is about visitors to MALT.

2023年に入って、情勢が落ち着いたために見学者が急増しました。

高校生や海外の大学生の少し大規模な見学会も何度か行われた結果、今年はこれまでに学外の方のみで100名以上の方にご見学いただきました。

In 2023, there were many visitors to the facility.

So far this year, we have had more than 100 visitors besides people from the University of Tokyo.

今年の思い出1 学生編 Students of Matsuzaki Lab.

 こんにちは！

Hello, this is MALT.

加速器の実験したり、加速器を修理したりしているうちに今年も終わりつつあります。

As we are doing experiments on the accelerator and repairing the accelerator, this year is almost over.

今年もいろいろありました。

随分写真を溜め込んでしまっているので放出していきたいと思います。

Many things have happened since my last post (in July!).

I want to be going to make several separate posts about them.

現在、松崎研にも何人か学生がいます。

この9月にはそのうちの一人が修士課程を卒業し、10月には修士課程に一人入学しました。

Currently, there are several students in Matsuzaki Lab.

One of them graduated from the master's program this September and one entered the master's program in October.

学位授与式後のしゅうごくん。この格好で出席したそうです。

卒業後も東京にいるらしく、一度MALTに遊びに来てくれました。

10月から正式に松崎研の学生となったJojoくん。

He is new student but he had already been a research student for a year.

Jojoくんは昨年から研究生として松崎研に在籍しています。

They are already close enough to eat meat together at Moriya SA.

二人の歓送迎会を上野の羊串屋で開催しました。

Held hail-and-farewell party in Ueno.

コンスタントに学生が来てくれて嬉しい限りです。

世情も落ち着いたし、今年はスキー合宿に行けるといいね！

I hope we can hold a ski camp this year for the first time in a long time.

秋の加速器メンテナンスを行いました！ Autumn Accelerator Maintenance

 こんにちは！

Hello, this is MALT.

今回は令和4年度秋の加速器メンテナンスの報告です。

This month we did some maintenance of the inside of the accelerator.

通常行っている内部の清掃やペレットチェーンの点検のほかに、今回は大仕事もありました。

加速器内部ユニットを支える絶縁カラムポストのセラミック部分が破損、一本丸ごと交換する必要があったのです。

This time, we had to complete a special mission to replace a damaged column post that supports the acceleration unit.

学位授与式が行われました！ Congrats!

こんにちは！

Hello, this is MALT.

近年、東京大学の留学生の数は増加の一途をたどり、9月に卒業する学生も珍しくありません。

In recent years, the number of international students at the University of Tokyo has continued to increase, and it is not unusual for students to graduate in September.

というわけで、先週の木曜日、原子力国際専攻の秋季学位授与式が行われました。

Autumn Graduate Commencement of NEM was held last Thursday.

松崎研究室からも2人のドクターが誕生しました。

現在加速器タンクを開放し、内部のメンテナンスを行なっています。

The accelerator tank is currently open for internal maintenance.

ビルの窓拭きに使われるようなゴンドラに乗って作業をしています。

さて、4月といえばお花見。

When April is mention, cherry blossom viewing come to mind in Japan.

MALTから博物館本館へ行くためには本郷の端から端まで移動する必要があるのですが、ついでに大学内の桜を見て回りました。

加速器質量分析をやっています Accelerator Mass Spectrometry

Hello, this is MALT.

今年度は加速器のトラブルが立て続けに発生。なんとか直りましたが、その後は測定が続きましてなかなか更新できませんでした。。。

Some troubles with the accelerator occurred these past months and they have been almost resolved.

今日も加速器質量分析（AMS）の測定をやっています。

Today we are conducting Accelerator Mass Spectrometry.

まずは事前準備として、どこかから取ってきた試料を化学的に精製し、同重体などの不純物を極力取り除きます。

For AMS measurement, it is necessary to purify the samples.

精製したサンプルをAMS用の治具にプレスします。

Purified samples are pressed into target cathodes for the ion source.

加速器、検出器などのチューニングをします。

The accelerator and beam-line components need tuning.

Finally, measurements start.

ホームカミングデイ Homecoming day

さて、今年は東京大学のホームカミングデイがオンラインで開催されることになり、

その中で、東京大学総合研究博物館の案内人を務めることになりました。

The University of Tokyo will hold the 20th homecoming day tomorrow mainly online.

Prof. Matsuzaki will act as a guide of the University Museum in the event.

YouTubeでのオンデマンド配信を行うそうです。

10月16日9時から10月24日まで視聴可能とのこと。

2020年のできごと1 What happened in 2020? - install a new compressor-

お久しぶりでございます。

Hello, this is MALT.

2020年の投稿がたったの３回という体たらく。不甲斐ないことです。

This is the first upload this year and 4 months since the last one.

特にイベントも大きな事故も無く粛々と過ごした一年でしたが、それでもいくらか珍しいできごとがありました。いくつかご報告いたします。

We didn't have any remarkable events or troubles (neither BBQ party nor pellet chain break,) but there were some unusual tasks.

名古屋大学駅を降りてすぐの坂田・平田ホールで行われたEA-AMS 8についても近々このブログでレポートしようと思います。

さて、今回は加速器タンクの下のビームライン(03ライン)にMQを移設した作業について。

We modified beam line under the accelerator tank to install MQ.

加速器タンク内にあるEQの電源が壊れてしまった上、現在諸事情あってタンク内メンテナンスができない状況ですので、代わりにMQを取り付けるという荒業にチャレンジしました。

We planed to modify the beam line to install MQ instead of broken EQ.
